Mark is primarily focused on the global growth and health of NorthWind Partners and, as an active and experienced LP and investor across healthcare, business services, industrials, technology, and real estate, is responsible for oversight of capital deployment at NorthWind Investments, an entity created to invest/co-invest with financial sponsor clients for optimal long-term alignment.
Mark advises select clients on critical board and leadership issues and frequently partners with private equity groups, ranging from low mid-market to large buyout, to drive value creation through the assessment and subsequent development or enhancement of boards and the C-Suite within platforms. Having developed the effective evaluative frameworks embedded in NorthWind’s Absolute Alignment ä Process – a defined, repeatable delivery methodology producing consistent, transparent results – Mark is deeply committed to ensuring that the firm focuses on producing positive outcomes for clients that far outpace the top decile of global competitors. He has successfully led and completed over 500 engagements during his career and provides counsel on a range of topics including pre-acquisition evaluation, succession planning, leadership development, and organizational assessment/ integration/ restructuring.
Prior to NorthWind, Mark was a Founding Principal of a top-ten retained search advisory in the healthcare industry. He also helped establish the technology and industrial practices for the southeastern office of a global executive search firm where he developed twelve Fortune 50 clients in an 18-month timeframe. Prior to this, Mark held management roles in corporate strategy and development with a publicly traded media company, where he became the youngest director in the 50-year history of the company’s operations and led corporate strategy for a start-up software company.
Mark was named one of the top GovCon recruiters by ExecutiveBiz and most influential executives in Tennessee by Business TN. He is a member of ACG and has published articles and spoken on topics related to the C-Suite, succession planning, retention, factors affecting the labor market, and more. He holds a degree in Economics from Wheaton College and serves on the board of CASA, a non-profit organization supporting children & orphans in Central Asia. Mark and his wife, Lauren, have a grown son, Brady, and three teenage daughters, Zoe, Sadie, and Layla. Mark enjoys the frustrating game of golf, hunting & traveling around the world, Cubs baseball, spontaneous adventures, great food in unexpected places, and practicing his conversational and, more importantly, listening skills with the four amazing women in his immediate family.
